Congregation rejuvenates historic church and increases safety with LightEdison solution.

LightEdison and Affordable Electric collaborate to implement turn-key LED lighting solution.

Challenge

First Pentecostal Church of New Orleans has a long and rich history in their community. Given that the current facility was constructed in 1954, it was under-lit in several key areas of the facility. The leadership had also noticed inconsistent color temperature throughout which was creating a dated atmosphere for the congregation when competition for membership is stronger than ever.

Solution

LightEdison specified and installed 380 fixture upgrades including retrofit kits, replacement fixtures and replacement lamps. The positive aesthetic impact was noticeable immediately. By specifying the correct color temperatures throughout, as well as the correct amount of lumens, a cohesive and intentional lighting design was achieved. Also, critical safety concerns were alleviated in the most under-lit areas. Overall lighting energy use was reduced by 80% directly aiding in controlling tight budgets.

Results

First Pentecostal Church has avoided paying a net $56,230 in direct lighting costs over the next 10 years. More importantly, the church has created a renewed, bright atmosphere, which helps highlight the church’s rich history and invigorates the congregation.

Testimonial

“There were multiple areas of the church that were in need of better lighting including the sanctuary, prayer rooms, classrooms and the gym. Upon completion of the upgrade, both the youth minister and teachers remarked how much livelier and fresh the facility felt. I always enjoy knowing I had a part in improving the quality of lighting, which directly relates to productivity and morale, for the customers for which I complete installations.”
