Maldaner’s raises the benchmark for Green Business Certification with LightEdison solution.

LightEdison employed a turn-key lighting solution to contribute to Maldaner’s sustainability goals.

Challenge

Maldaner’s Restaurant and Catering is one of Springfield’s finest restaurants. Maldaner’s was already a Green Business Certified with the use of solar panels, a rooftop garden and bee hives. Established in 1884, they had yet to address their legacy mis-matched lighting system and lighting energy consumption leading to impacts to their guest experience and food presentation.

Solution

LightEdison specified and installed a custom retrofit solution including 31 different fixture types, multi-color accent lighting and remote control fixtures in featured architectural areas. The design allowed for a consistent and cohesive ambiance to be achieved throughout the space to provide maximum improvement in the guest experience and well as for staff. Additionally, a unique HVAC challenge was discovered and addressed during installation.

Results

Maldaner’s has avoided paying a net $39,270 in direct lighting costs over the next 10 years while reducing lighting energy consumption by 60%, furthering the company sustainability goals while improving the guest and staff experience.

Testimonial

“This LED project provided an excellent opportunity for WindSolarUSA to offer energy conscientious restaurant owner, Michael Higgins, a usage reduction to complement the on-site generation from the solar project that was completed in 2013. I couldn’t be more pleased with the final outcome. From the dining room ambiance for guests to the lighting for the chefs, prep staff and event planners, working with the LightEdison Group allowed my company to please all AND save energy!”
