An energy service company (ESCO) partnership provides local school district with significant district-wide savings.

LightEdison provided PATH a dedicated single-point project execution team to deliver a cost-effective LED design-build solution.

Challenge

PATH required project execution support including audit and design services, contracting support, turnkey installation and ongoing service for their client Long Beach School District (LBSD). The district is comprised of five schools providing K-12 education for approximately 3,000 students. LBSD had a large assortment of outdated fluorescent fixtures with inconsistent color temperature and lower than optimal light levels in classrooms, labs, administration offices and sports complexes.

Solution

LightEdison self-performed a high-quality design-build solution of over 5,000 fixtures, including troffers, strip and wrap fixtures, down-lights, area lights, flag lighting, wall-packs, exits signs and more to reduce energy consumption and increase facilities illumination. Consistency of architectural styling and color temperature were also achieved.

Results

The LightEdison - PATH partnership completed one week early with zero cost overruns, which allowed PATH to focus on other Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) throughout the district to generate additional project profits while still delivering a comprehensive solution to their client. The LED lighting retrofit solution is expected to generate savings of $905,000 over 10-years. Lighting energy consumption was reduced by 68%, and included a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of over 10,000,000 lbs. The new lighting provides an enhanced, vibrant learning atmosphere for the most important occupants – the school children. Brilliant savings delivered!

“We work closely with LightEdison as our preferred LED Lighting and solar provider on our energy efficiency projects.
